Andrew and I agreed we weren’t really doing gifts this year, and he will have more gifts under the tree than Liv (because Santa is bringing her some things, she’s been a GOOD little girl)… whoops. I think I would go broke if it was really an option buying my family gifts. I always go over budget but I NEVER regret it.
Harmony during the Holidays
But there really is a harmony during the holidays of spending and saving, don’t you think? I am a firm believer in preparing but want to enjoy life as well. So where is the balance? We have all seen those people that overspend or are like my mother and hoard every penny (sorry Mom).
I can easily forget the true gift of this season. The joy and love given to each of us can often be taken for granted. But let’s get real, we aren’t going to stop giving gifts, sitting on Santa’s lap, hustling to get from one gathering to the other… we are all trying to just find a harmonious way of celebrating the season.
Harmony is really a key word here. Work and personal, spending and saving, family and friends, wine and water, designer and budget, playtime and education. Depending, you can be on one side or the other and more often times than not, you can live peacefully in the middle.
Drink a glass of water in between your glasses wine
Grab your spouse a Starbucks after a night out with friends
Stop answering e-mails and have a conversation before bed
Zara top with Chanel Boots
Dance party before bath and bedtime stories
Andrew and I can get so focused on work that I think we forget to live the life we have been given. Life is all a balancing act and sometimes that pendulum swings way too far to the left and we need to self-center. Maybe you play too much and need to get a little more serious about your commitments in life?
Whatever your case may be… let’s try to get things centered.
Happy Christmas from our family to yours. Spread your JOY.
